Covington Music Academy aims to support and nurture the love of music in every student by providing tailored instruction in a positive environment with a commitment to musical excellence and personal growth.
Naomi Chan, M.Ed.
Naomi Chan began teaching private music lessons in 2010. She has a passion for student-centered learning and enjoys teaching music to people of all ages and abilities. She has taught students ranging from age five to adult, and is a member of the National Association for Music Education, Piano Teacher’s Federation, and the American Harp Society. She previously served as treasurer for the Tacoma Chapter of the Washington State Music Teachers Association. In addition to her experience teaching music, Naomi worked as an educator in Kent School District, and also taught English as a foreign language to students in Seoul, South Korea.
Naomi is a summa cum laude graduate of Pacific Lutheran University, where she completed her Bachelor of Musical Arts degree, and earned her Master of Education degree at the University of Washington. As a pianist and harpist, she has participated in multiple solo and ensemble performances with orchestras, choirs, piano ensemble, and harp ensemble. She is an active freelance harpist, performing frequently throughout the Pacific Northwest. In her spare time, Naomi enjoys spending time with her family, growing and arranging flowers for Blue Whale Flower Company, swimming, cycling, and traveling.
